Where to shop from Coolatai

Coolatai is brilliant for quiet nights, the Wallaroo Hotel and free camping — it is not a supermarket town. Plan shopping as a short circuit.

Warialda (~40 km) is the everyday hub: Carlo’s IGA and Mitre 10 on Stephen Street, Hope Café and the Royal Hotel on Hope Street, Carinda House for crafts and preserves, plus the Visitor Information Centre if you need maps or local produce. Cranky Rock is a nature add-on east of town.

Yetman suits travellers heading toward the Queensland border — Codfish Hotel and the general store cover meals and basics.

North Star has a weekday morning store/post office and the Sporting Club later in the week; don’t rely on the Vicarage Café (listed closed).

Bingara is a longer Gwydir loop for bakehouse, IGA and main-street browsing. Inverell is the larger regional shop if you need specialist retail or major supermarket brands.
